Weekly Recap #1
This is my weekly recap — Reading, Eating, Creating, Appreciating, Pausing
Reading
I tend to read one analog book, and listen to one audiobook so I can have variety. Currently, I am reading And Now Back To You by B.K Borison for my sister book club. Admittedly, I had to renew it because I am nowhere close to finishing. Oops.
The Other Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn is my audiobook for the month. It has me laughing out loud.
Eating
This week beverages took front and center. I’m been feeling a little dehydrated so I was trying to find ways to incorporate fun water into my week.
I brewed some delicious Rishi Super Green Matcha iced tea and paired it with fresh lavender. Mixing it with half water makes my water just appealing enough to drink.
I also had a cereal milk latte at one of my favorite local shops — Bada Bean Bada Booze. I paired it with good company, coworking and a vegan chocolate donut. No regrets.
Lastly, I had a cherry, lime iced refresher made with fresh produce, water, and a dash of green tea and sparkling water.
Appreciating
Surprise Friend Popup — My friends know some of my work days, and one of my runner buddies stopped by while on their long run. It was such a delightful surprise to see her and encourage her run which was LONG!
Group Chat – My family has a group chat, and this week I have been the quiet guest who’s at the party, but not talking at all. Until my brother posted a little question where we had to answer what I top five shows were. And I was immediately taken back to the different phases of life that I watched all these shows. Representation matters, and watching the show Girlfriend’s was huge for me as a teenager. Especially because they had actual dark skinned women in the cast. I felt seen. It’s funny how a simple question can help us reflect!
Visited my mom – We sat by the pool, chatted and just got to be. When I was growing up we spent sundays at my maternal grandmother’s house after church. I never realized how soul filling that probably was for my mom. I get it these days. I also got to take in just how many pieces of art my mom has hanging.
Creating
Paint and Sip - I hosted a paint and sip party where we painted a design inspired by fresh farmer’s market finds. I love attending these with my mom, and while I haven’t gotten to make any yet this summer, they hold a special place in my heart. My favorite things to purchase are bread, berries, jam and micro greens. Sharing my design with a group of lovely ladies allowed me to spread my love and joy for making, teaching and markets.
Pausing & Playing (taking a break, being present, and mindful)
Super Secret Club – My week started with an exclusive invite to a Dreamers Club hosted by a new friend I made at work. Admittedly the party started much later than I am typically willing to leave the house. But I figured, life is meant to be lived! So I went, and I am beyond grateful that I chose that over rotting on the couch. It was energizing to meet with a group of phenomenal women. I’m excited for the next session and thankful for the invite.
